Can I share the handouts with my colleagues, students, or friends?

Yes, you are welcome to share the handouts with others for educational purposes. But please don’t alter them in any way and never remove the copyright details.

Can I share this course with other people?

You are welcome to speak about the course with others. I will release an affiliate program for the next round of the course so you can have the opportunity of receiving bonuses for recommending the course. But do not share your password with anyone. This is intellectual property and that is a breach of copyright. Remember the concepts of satya (truthfulness) and asteya (non stealing).

How long is each call?

The teacher's call will be 45 min, the group call will be 1hr and the monthly meditation will be about 1hr.
If you are a teacher set aside about 3 hours on the last Sunday of the month because the Teachers' Call will be followed by the group and then followed by the monthly meditation.
If you didn't purchase the teacher's add-on, set aside about 2 hours on the last Sunday of the month because the group call is followed by the monthly meditation.

When are the on-demand videos posted for the month?

The pre-recorded videos are posted the 1st Sunday of every month for you to watch at your leisure anytime. You will have access to them for as long as I run this course.

Do I get a certificate after completing the SCIENCE OF YOGA course

Yes, if you've paid the extra $10/month for the teacher's add-on including an extra monthly call and 40+ CEUs, then you will get a certificate for completing these hours. We issue certificates + grant Yoga Alliance CEU credits every 6 months (February and August of every year, so you should complete the coursework by January 31st or July 31st to get credits in those periods). We will only issue a certificate + grant CEU credits once you've completed the course content.

What is the schedule for the course content?

+ Safety and Accessibility (January)

This is why I do what I do. Research makes yoga more accessible. The evidence shows that yoga is safe overall. And a few important safety precautions will leave you empowered to move and practice. Jivana Heyman, founder of Accessible Yoga, helped make this section one of my favorites.

+ Respiratory System (February)

Discover how to breathe most efficiently—and what the fascinating research says about key pranayama techniques like alternate-nostril breathing, bhramari, and more.

+ Immune + Lymphatic System (March)

Explore how yoga reduces inflammation (and why that matters) and practical approaches to improve your immunity (and why they work). I will share fascinating studies on meditation and immunity, and you will even get to experience the practices used in the research.

+ Nervous System Overview (April)

THIS IS EVERYTHING. There is so much to say about how yoga affects your master control system. Get an overview, including cutting-edge research like the merging of polyvagal theory with yoga philosophy proposed by Marlysa Sullivan—plus a deeper dive for neuro nerds!

+ Your Brain (May)

There is so much to say that I split the nervous system into two months. (It’s also woven throughout each section, particularly in relation to pain relief.) Discover how yoga and meditation create new neural connections through neuroplasticity, neurochemical changes, and mental health transformations (spiritual ones, too!).

+ Endocrine System (June)

Experience how yoga affects your hormone balance AND how it helps you manage stress. We’ll also uncover how the practices increase resilience to decrease the load on your systems.

+ Cardiovascular System (July)

Learn how yoga can prevent (and even contribute to reversing) heart disease, lower blood pressure, improve heart rate variability (a measure of resilience), and more. This is one of the largest areas of yoga research.

+ Skeletal System (August)

As an arthritis and joint pain specialist, I have a lot to say this month! We will talk about how yoga can support bone health, along with some key joint physiology, including a deep dive into synovial fluid!

+ Muscular System (September)

Learn my key takeaways on yoga and your muscular system. I prefer to call this the neuromuscular system because the two systems are inseparable, and key findings in this area hold promise for improving body awareness and relieving pain.

+ Reproductive + Urinary System (October)

Review the research on how yoga may help to improve pelvic floor health, urinary health, fertility, and sexual health.

+ Digestive System (November)

Our digestion is key to overall good health. Explore how yoga can improve digestive function and support conditions like IBS, Crohn’s disease, bloating/gas, heartburn, and more.

+ Research Overview (December)

Understand the scope of the current state of yoga research and get a summary of the key findings (including what we don't know). Discover the basics of how to find research, set alerts, read critically, and more! Because I am not a researcher myself, we will talk with a special guest researcher. :)

Where will the recordings of the calls be? When will they be posted?

All recordings will be posted in this course platform. Actually, anything you need from the course will be posted here for your convenience. They will be posted the Sunday following the live call

Are the monthly meditations recorded?

No, because these are free and open to the public. (Please invite friends and family to sign up to join at AnnSwansonWellness.com/meditation.) One reason I can't share the video is that the participants haven't signed a release form for their image to appear in video. I respect everyone's right to privacy and don't want barriers to entry.

Being in the course, you get automatic enrollment as a bonus but the material isn't part of the course. It is just an opportunity to practice and reinforce, especially as I will be introducing the next month's content in these LIVE meditations. Any relevant content, studies, facts that I mention will be in your course material. Plus, I will often have a similar recording with the practice to give you. If you can't be there, don't worry. If you can be there, it is a super cool experience to meditate LIVE with people around the world :)
